Let's look at the possibility practically and realistically.

What would a true civil war look like? In almost every instance I can think of throughout history around the world, you have a group that rises up and attempts to overthrow the current government. Replacing it with a new regime and new constitution/form of government. Or in the case of the first US Civil War, you had half the country attempting to leave and start their own nation. Only to have the original government fight to prevent that.

Civil unrest in the streets? Tribal wars between civilian groups going at it? Sure, I can see that. But an all out civil war with two large armies going at it? Not sure that's something that's even plausible.

To have the US military get involved, you would have to have one group rise up and attempt to overthrow the federal government. No matter which political group has a hold on most of the government at the Federal level, I just can't see that as plausible. Not anywhere in the near future.

Individual states attempting to secede from the Union? I could see that. But would that result in war? I'm not sure.

Interesting to ponder how the possibility of something like this could go down..

The other half, more then half voted for the guy that will be installed as president in a few months. So that leaves you with what, 21 percent of the country that voted for Trump.

In fairness, any scenario doesn't have to be the Right instigating the violence. What have we seen the last 6 months in this country? 95% of the bullshit has been from the Left.

What if Trump pulls this off and gets another 4 years? Whether in a crazy comeback with the votes or in the courts? Then the possibilities of how this starts and what side instigates gets flipped.

Yeah. This isn't north/south. Not a clean split in territory. Sure, parts are regionalized. But impossible to implement as you suggested.
